Mary Poppins, Chalk and Charcoal!

This week Year 2 have been writing a letter to describe what they would like in an ideal nanny. This has been part of our work on our next text 'Mary Poppins'. It bought together all our grammatical learning and included the use of adjectives, conjunctions, sentence punctuation and contractions. We have also been making chalk pictures outside to bring to life the scene with Bert, the match man. We began a new art module on drawing. The first lesson was exploring using charcoal to make marks. We had a lot of fun and learnt that charcoal is burnt wood and very black! In maths, we have been finishing our learning on multiplication and division, and we have been our new topics in Science and History, focusing on Plants and Schools through the ages.
