The Battle of Hastings, Abstract art and money

The Battle of Hastings, Abstract art and money

Another busy week in Year 1! This week we have learnt about the Battle of Hastings and William the Conqueror – a big thank you for not revealing the ending at home! We are currently using the facts from our history lesson to prepare for a descriptive write on Thursday. We have also been artists and, inspired by Mondrian, Kandinsky and Picasso, we have created our very own pieces of abstract art (please see the fantastic examples above). In maths, we have started our new topic on money (pounds and pence) so it would be a good idea to go over this at home with any spare change. We are also looking forward to painting the amazing homemade shields in preparation for our battle reenactment next week! Have a lovely weekend! The Year 1 team.
