Leading the Way

Year 6 have returned for the second half of term with renewed enthusiasm and energy! We’ve loved hearing their reflections on what is going well so far this year and how much they value their responsibilities as school ambassadors. Before the half-term break, the children sang beautifully in the Harvest Assemblies; we hope you enjoyed their performances as much as we did. They certainly set a wonderful precedent for the Carol Concerts later this term. In history, we have continued our study of World War Two by exploring the changing roles of women, including the vital work they undertook on the Home Front. The children have examined a range of historical sources, considering what they can tell us and how reliable they may be. We have also investigated wartime propaganda and how posters, slogans and imagery were used to raise morale, influence behaviour and encourage people to support the war effort. Meanwhile, in PE, we have moved from floor routines to vaulting, with the children developing their technique, control and confidence as they learn to execute each movement safely and accurately.
