Mouse Bird Snake Wolf

Over the past fortnight, Year 6 have been busy and enthusiastic across the curriculum!

In English, we have been exploring our core text Mouse, Bird, Snake, Wolf. Using the rich language and shifting viewpoints in the story, the children wrote vivid descriptions of animals, focusing on precise vocabulary, figurative language and sentence variety. The quality of the writing has been impressive, with pupils really considering how to bring their chosen animals to life for the reader. In art, we rounded off our landscape unit with an exciting whole-class project inspired by the work of David Hockney. Each child contributed a section to our large-scale landscape, carefully considering colour, perspective and pattern. The finished piece is a fantastic celebration of teamwork and creativity and looks wonderful on display. In PE, we have begun working on jumps using the vault in gymnastics. The children have been developing their confidence, focusing on safe take-offs and landings, body control and evaluating their own and others’ performances. It has been great to see them encouraging one another and showing resilience as they learn new skills.
