Year 1 have had a lovely yet busy first week back! Moles and Otters enjoyed their first forest school sessions and Hedgehogs are looking forward to their turn in a couple of weeks. 

In English we began reading our new core text, The Gruffalo. We explored adjectives and how these can make our sentences more exciting, then wrote our own sentences to describe the Gruffalo. 

In maths we are continuing our work around addition. We used tens frames and counters to then write an addition sentence. We have also been consolidating our number bonds within 10. 

In science we have been finishing our work on the senses and the body. We enjoyed a taste test before half term, tasting sweet, bitter, salty, sour and even spicy foods! 

In geography we are continuing to learn about the continents. In carousel we explored North America and sorted landmarks into human and physical categories. We also looked at famous landmarks in Europe too.
