Pirate day, shield painting and battle reenactments!

Pirate day, shield painting and battle reenactments!
We have had a brilliant final few weeks in Year 1!
We had so much fun celebrating pirate day last week to finish our english topic on pirates. We enjoyed lots of pirate activities, practised pirate language and had a sunny picnic in the afternoon! In our english lessons, we also created our own pirate and wrote a character description using adjectives.
In history, we really enjoyed reenacting the Battle of Hastings! We first painted our fantastic shields, then used them to recreate the battle outside.
In maths, we have been learning all about time. We have learnt about seconds, minutes and hours and had a go using a stopwatch to time ourselves doing different activities. We have also begun looking at a clock and telling the time to the hour and half past.
What a fantastic year it has been! Wishing you all a lovely summer holiday.
The Year 1 team.
