Fractions, Bees, and Climate!

What a super start back to the final term in year 1! We hope you had a great half term.
In English, we have continued our topic of traditional tales. We have learnt about the suffix -ing, and used our knowledge to write sentences about Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. We will now be creating our own dwarf and describing them!
In Geography, we have been learning all about weather. This week, we explored climate and the equator, and how different countries have different climates. We coloured and labelled our own map to show this!
In maths, we have continuing learning all about fractions. We have already learnt about half, and this week we have begun learning about quarters! We have explored folding shapes into quarters, and finding a quarter of a quantity.
In Science this week, we have been learning all about fruits and vegetables! As part of our plant topic, we closely observed different fruits and vegetables, and learnt about the difference between the two.
We enjoyed a lovely assembly this week all about Bees! We learnt all about the importance of bees for our environment and food, and enjoyed a delicious lunch all associated with food from bees!
The year 1 team.
