Engineers or Chefs?

It has been a very busy and exciting few weeks in Year 2!

In Literacy, the children have been working hard to research and write their own fact books about lighthouses. They have enjoyed learning interesting facts and organising their writing into clear sections using headings and subheadings.

In maths, we have now completed our unit on multiplication and division. The children have been developing their understanding of grouping and sharing, and have shown great progress in using different strategies to solve problems confidently.

Our science topic on animals has been a real highlight. The children have also carefully observed and recorded the life cycle of a butterfly, completing butterfly diaries filled with detailed observational sketches. It has been wonderful to see their growing curiosity and attention to detail.

In Design and Technology, we have finished our unit on Wheels and Axles, where the children designed and built their own vehicles. They demonstrated excellent problem-solving skills while adding axles and wheels to make their models move. We have also completed a food technology unit, where the children made healthy yoghurt dips. They thoroughly enjoyed planning, preparing, tasting and evaluating their dips- there were some very interesting food combinations!

In Art, the children have been developing their observational drawing skills. They have focused on tone and texture, carefully drawing objects and improving their ability to add detail and shading.

We were also incredibly proud of the children during our Spring Singing Assembly, where they performed beautifully and showed great enthusiasm.

As we come to the end of term, we would like to thank you for your continued support. We wish you all a very happy and restful Easter holiday!
