A super start!

A super start to the autumn term! The children have settled in beautifully. Well done Year 2!
In our English lessons we are reading, ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ and are using this to practise our sentence writing with a focus on capital letters, full stops and finger spaces.
In history, we started our new topic on ‘The Great Fire of London’ by sequencing the main events. We then moved on to investigating why the fire spread so quickly by comparing the past to the present day.
In art, we drew self portraits using pastels (please see pic above!) and then moved on to recapping colour mixing with a focus on secondary colours.
In science, we began our new topic on materials by sorting objects based on the materials they are made out of.
Finally, in maths, we started our topic on place value and have been counting and grouping numbers in tens and ones.
Wow, what a busy week! Have a wonderful weekend. The Year 2 team.
