The last fortnight in Year 5 has been just as busy as ever!

In Dance, we have all become choreographers, piecing together our own dance routines. We have explored mirroring, shadowing, moving at different heights, creating different shapes with our bodies and changing direction and speed.

In Art, we have each created a collagraph print ready to paint our ‘I Need Space’ compositions. The children have worked incredibly hard to layer different materials, creating texture, depth and detail within their designs.

In Maths, we have been revisiting addition and subtraction. The children have challenged themselves to decide when it is best to use a mental method and when a written method is more appropriate.

In English, we have started our new core text, Shackleton’s Journey, a non-fiction text about Ernest Shackleton’s famous expedition across Antarctica. We have begun exploring the expedition and learning more about the challenges faced by Shackleton and his crew.
