Science, geography and the hare and the tortoise!

Science, geography and the hare and the tortoise!

This past week Year 1 has been learning about spring (finally we hope!). We have explored the lovely woodland area of the school and we identified which garden and wild plants are growing there. We have worked out which season has the most daylight hours and created our first pictogram of the number of daylight hours in each season (see picture). We have begun a new traditional tale about the Hare and the tortoise and learn that the hare boasted about winning the race and then was humiliated by the tortoise after being tempted to eat lots of juicy carrots. In maths we have been learning about multiplication and that this means groups of the same number eg: 2+2+2 =6.
