Year 6 had a lovely long walk and a great time visiting Kew Gardens last Wednesday.
This week in Year 6 the children have really enjoyed their science lessons, where they have designed a key to classify some of the invertebrates we might be able to find in and around our school. We are all looking forward to presenting our charts to our friends in the Reception classes so they can learn about what we know!
The last couple of weeks have been very busy for Year 6. To bring our learning about World War II to life, we visited the underground air raid shelter at St Leonard’s Court to help us imagine what it would have been like for people sheltering from the bombing during the Blitz.
The Year 6 children have made a fantastic start to their final year at Sheen Mount and all of their teachers have been really impressed with their focus, energy and enthusiasm.
This week in Year 6 the children have been put through their final paces in rehearsals for their production. They look great in their costumes and we hope they have had lots of fun performing to you.
This week in art, we have produced some relief sculptures and we have also just completed our final piece of writing in English which has helped us to showcase all of the skills we will be taking with us to secondary school in September.
This week in Year 6 the children have had the opportunity to think about the world of money! Each class took part in their first lesson on financial literacy which was delivered by Chris Hawkins.
The children in Year 6 have achieved so much in the past few weeks.
The Year 6 children this week have continued to do what Sheen Mount children do every year when it comes to taking their SATs – they have shown a calm, focused and mature attitude and endeavoured to make the most of their ability.
The children in Year 6 have been working really hard to consolidate their learning in the final few weeks before their SATs tests. We are so lucky at Sheen Mount that when the sun shines we are able to go outside and learn together in our outdoor classroom – it makes maths even more fun!
In the final week before the Easter holidays the Year 6 children have been completing their geography learning about Europe and the Mediterranean by looking at Bologna as a tourist destination.
