Capacity, sculptures and plants!

Year 1 have had a great start to the Summer term! We have made the most of the sunshine too and taken some ofour learning outside of the classroom.
In English, we began out topic of traditional tales. We read a range of these and spotted some features. We then read Goldilocks and the Three Bears and sequenced the story. This week we have been deciding whether Goldilocks was a 'good' or 'bad' character which lead to some great debates! We are now planning to write a letter as if we are Goldilocks.
In maths we finished our topic of measures. We explored mass and capacity and all enjoyed practically measuring the mass of objects in our classroom and then comparing them.
In geography we have began looking at the weather. We discussed the four seasons and drew weather symbols for each season.
In science we went on a walk around the school grounds looking for wild flowers and garden flowers. We spotted lots of bluebells and daisies and also saw some tulips.
In art we have also been making paper sculptures but rolling and folding paper into different shapes and sizes.
