Reminder about PSA Meeting next Tuesday 25th May - 19:30
I hope that many of you already have the PSA meeting next week in your diaries for next week! Just a reminder in case you have forgotten and the link again to access the online meeting.  I look forward to seeing you there and starting to build our new PSA team and develop some exciting fundraising ideas. https://meet.google.com/byc-ctkd-gmm

Mrs Hole
Congratulations to Mrs Hole who this week celebrated achieving her British Citizenship. The whole school celebrated with her in assembly today.  She explained how she had to pledge her allegiance to the Queen and her successors. Mrs Hole will be sharing her experience in a little more detail in the Forum Assembly next week when we will be looking at Fundamental British Values and what these mean.

Staffing Update
It is always at about this time of year when we start our planning, in earnest, for the staffing at the school for the next academic year.  We already have some changes to let you know about.  Firstly, I would like to let you know that Mrs Scott who has been a Teaching Assistant at the school for many years will be retiring at the end of this half-term.  We will be celebrating her many successes at the school with her next week.  Also, Mrs Marriage will not be returning next academic year as her family are relocating to Norwich.  We discussed the commute but decided it was just too far - we all wish her the best of luck for the future and will enjoy working with her until the end of term.

Walk to School Week
The children have reported some positive changes over the week to contribute to our Walk to School Week initiative.  We heard examples of children getting off the bus a few stops early, walking to school more days than usual, cycling to school and trying out a ‘park-and-stride’ from a few streets away.  Thank you to everyone who supported our efforts - the children in 3B recorded the most positive initiatives over the week and have earned themselves some additional breaktime for next week!

Travelling abroad over half-term
Please note that the government continues to advise against all non-essential international travel to some countries and territories. If you are planning to travel, please check the country page for your destination. Please do NOT travel to an amber or red destination, as this will mean that, due to COVID travel restrictions, your child(ren) will have to miss school. Term-time school attendance is mandatory, you will have to notify the school office and make an absence request form for any time that your child(ren) will be off school

Children and the EU Settled Status scheme - less than 50 days to apply!
All EU children and non-EU children who are family members of an EU national need to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme by 30 June 2021 to retain their right to live and study in the UK. Please note that:

  • Children are not granted Settled Status automatically even if the parent(s) have already applied
  • Children born in the UK are not automatically British: it depends on when they were born and their parents' circumstances
  • Those who do not apply by the deadline may become unlawful residents: this may affect their access to education in the next school year

Children need to apply in their own right (or their parents can apply for them, but they are not automatically covered by a parent's own application). Citizens Advice in Richmond can advise on making applications to the scheme to anyone who lives, works, studies or cares for someone in their boroughs. Their service is free, confidential and impartial. Further information can be found on the Richmond Citizens Advice website. You can contact Richmond Citizens advice  Freephone: 080 82 78 78 73 (open 10-4, Monday - Friday); or by email. Please contact the school office if you require assistance contacting the service.

Class Photographs
On Monday, the school photographer will be here to take the class photographs. Please can you make sure that correct school uniform is worn.  If your class has PE on Monday, please come to school in uniform and bring in your PE kit to change into when needed - thank you.
