Thursday 21st  May 2026

Dear parents and carers,

I hope you are well. We have come to the end of the half-term and a reminder that Monday 1st June is an INSET day, and we therefore look forward to welcoming the children back on Tuesday 2nd June.

The Year 6s have enjoyed their week-long trip to PGL in Hindhead and thanks go to all the staff who gave up their week so that the children could experience this fantastic opportunity.

I wish you an enjoyable half-term break.

Year 4 Whole class instrument learning – Mrs Boa, Year 4 Teacher and Music Lead

Year 4 have been enjoying learning the "dood" in their music lessons this half-term, led by Tatjana and Nancy from the Richmond Music Trust. This whole-class instrumental teaching is part of the 'Wider Opportunities in Music' initiative, which gives every child the opportunity to learn an instrument in class and then encourage them to continue learning in a small group or in an individual lesson in Year 5.

The dood is a reeded instrument, about half the size of the clarinet, which makes it more accessible for all children to play as beginners. We are learning together and realising how many different skills we are using.

Year 3/4 Choir at Richmond Schools Singing Festival

On Tuesday, the choir took part in the 25th Richmond Schools Singing festival at the Rose Theatre. Performing on stage with a live band was an amazing opportunity for our choir, who are made up of Year 3 and 4 children. They sang their hearts out, and I was immensely proud of them. The audience reaction to our songs "Corner of the Sky" and "Nobody Knows" was a perfect end to our weeks of rehearsal and preparation. Thank you to all the choir who took part.

Mrs Boa

What the children thought:

"I loved being there because it was loud and it was fun singing “Wake me up,” It was very energetic." Trixie

"My favourite part was singing “Corner of the sky” because Sheen Mount and East Sheen make such a good choir. But I loved all of it." Sienna

"I really enjoyed the Rose Theatre. It was amazing." James

"I really liked all the songs, and it was a highlight of the year for me." Henry

KS2 Music Concert Evening

After our inaugural concert evening last year, Mrs Boa and Mrs Wrigglesworth are putting the event on again this year. All KS2 parents were sent an email today in order to understand what instruments might be being played in or out of school.

Holly Lodge Charity Fundraising

It was lovely to see the recognition for our fundraising efforts last year through the cycle ride and our charity partner – Holly Lodge. Some children went up and attended an event at the centre.
