Dear parents and carers,
I hope you are well. A busy but important part of the school year as our year 6's focus on their SATs next week. They do have their four-night residential trip to PGL Hindhead to look forward to the week after. We have enjoyed more year group and class assemblies and KS1 and Y3 enjoyed some 'Eat Well' workshops. I was also able to join Mr Brown and our netball team and coaches last Wednesday evening for their wonderful netball league victory.
SCHOOL FUND REMINDER
Surveys-parent and pupil
The governors and school carry out our three surveys (pupils, parents and staff) every two years and they are now live. The links will be sent in the email text.
The pupil survey is designed for Years 2 to 6 and to be carried out at home. There will be a shorter "hands up" survey for children in Reception and Year 1.
Safer Internet Survey feedback
Mrs Wrigglesworth has been working with the leadership team around our computing curriculum and specifically, our e-safety programme and the development of AI. Please see attached the feedback from the survey.
Reminder about water bottles
A reminder please that water bottles should go home daily and come back full the next day.
Mental Health Support Team coffee morning from Mrs Teeling our Mental Health Lead
Stephne from the Mental Health Support Team will be running a parent coffee morning at school on Friday 15th May. The topic being discussed is anxiety. All parents are welcome. Please meet in the school reception area at 9am.
Thank you – pyjama charity day
Thank you for your donations and getting the children dressed up for the school council's charity day. We reached our target for the charity and look forward to updating you with their work from these funds around the equipment in the kitchen. They have already started building the kitchen from the funds from Christmas. The school is called Bukamba school in Uganda.
Thank you-parent tidy up day
Once again, the Sheen Mount community came up trumps at the parents tidy up afternoon last Saturday. From painting to jet washing, to gardening and wiping down walls, a vast amount was achieved. We thank everyone who took part in the event-especially the members of the PSA who organised it.
The main area that was painted was the KS1 corridor. Along with some PSA funding we
have purchased some new furniture and are now completing the final stage of changing the display boards. A truly collaborative community project – thank you everyone!
Reminders from previous newsletters-
Careers week 15th to 19th June 2026-Mrs Sroka-Enrichment Lead and UKS2 Phase leader
This year we aim to hold a Careers Week in the week beginning 15th June 2026. We would like parent volunteers to talk to classes about their jobs, what they enjoy, the skills required and describe a typical day. The aim is to broaden aspirations and help the children make connections between careers and subjects.
You may recall that our last Careers Week was in 2024 where, thanks to parent volunteers, we were able to organise workshops, assemblies and held a careers fair for UKS2. We would like to do the same again this year.
If you are interested, and can make the time, please complete the form. Once we know how many people are happy to be involved, we can make a plan and will be in touch to confirm the arrangements. We appreciate any time that you are able to offer.

Art competition from the Art ambassadors
The art ambassadors would like to announce that Sheen Mount is having a cartoon competition.
It is open to all ages, and it can be a cartoon character or cartoon strip. The entries will be judged by the art ambassadors, but taking part is more important than winning. All entries will be displayed. The deadline date for entries is 15th May. Entries must be named and have the child's class on them, and they are to be given to the office.
We hope you enjoy creating your piece of art.
Athea, Pia, Lisha, Jack, Ozgur and Rufus.
Hampton Music Day
A few weeks ago, on a Sunday, we went to the Hampton Music Day at Hampton school. We learnt four pieces of music: March Militaire, Match of the Day, I got Plenty of Nothin’ and How far I’ll go in four hours. We played with a range of different types of instruments including brass, woodwind, percussion and strings. When learning the pieces, all of the different instruments went into separate rooms and learnt them separately. We enjoyed meeting different people as well as seeing and hearing new instruments. At the end of the day, we performed the pieces to our parents in the theatre. Our favourite part of the day was playing in the theatre.

Netball team-Borough league champions!
An amazing 'finals evening' for our netball team after their unbeaten league
campaign. They had three comprehensive victories, culminating in winning 20-4 in the final and finishing top of the pile of 38 schools. Many thanks to the team and wider squad for all their hard work-attending two mornings a week before school and our coaches- one current and one ex parent- Ness Westlake and Nikki Price.
Girls football-league semi final
The girls had a tough match last night in the borough semi-final, but were
victorious in the Sheen derby against East Sheen. They now progress to the borough league final.
