Dear Parents,
We have had an enjoyable and action-packed week both in and out of the classroom. You can see these activities either through the Twitter feed or via the information below. They have ranged from class assemblies, music performances, Battle of the Books and of course the school disco last night.
Thank you to those who helped with the disco events across the afternoon and the evening, including the staff who gave up their time to support the children. Everyone had a great time.
We are really looking forward to the seeing the school community at the summer fair tomorrow. It seems such a long time since we have been able to share this event together.
School events this week
We had three assemblies this week; Year 5 recapped their Isle of Wight trip, Year 3 performed their rainforest assembly and we had our first Reception assembly led by Squirrels class, which was all about their learning throughout the year.
Some children from Years 4, 5 and 6 were able to enjoy a Richmond Music Trust Instrumental day in Twickenham this week. Mrs Boa was very impressed with their behaviour and attitude on the day and this is what the children had to say:
Bea: "I loved being part of a band."
Isla: "I loved making new friends."
Lana: "I am really glad I did a jazz solo on stage improvising - even though I was nervous."
Jamie: "It was amazing!"
Isabella: "I loved playing pieces of music with other schools."
Teo: "I played Wipeout by the Surfaris."
Year 4 visited Hampton Court Palace this week for the day. Further information is in their section below.
Farm visit - Some children from across the year groups were able to visit Crockford Bridge Farm with Mrs Jeffery. Children picked beetroot to make into Chutney and then will be selling it back to Whole Foods in Richmond as part of the School Food Matters Farm to Fork initiative.
The Year 4s enjoyed their day at Battle Of the Books today where they did some art, drama and a quiz.
Sports Day
KS2 (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6) - as you aware this event is being held on the morning of Thursday 7th July and is going to take place at Sheen Common.
We will aim to start by 9.45am on the common once we have all the children registered at school, walked them up and got them ready to start the activities. It will run as per previous pre-Covid sports days, so the children will be in colour teams which will then be split into different fruits. Make sure you know which colour team and fruit your child is in and then you will be able to spot them quickly!
We will send an email on Monday with a few reminders and requests about the event - specifically around dogs on the common and parents keeping a sensible distance when the children are taking part in their activities.
Reception/KS1 - as you aware this is on the morning of Friday 8th July and is on the school field, with a start time of 9.15am. A letter has been sent to parents today to explain how it will run.
Staffing
Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Jeffery (teacher in Doves class) on the birth of Henry. A lovely little brother for Charlotte and we look forward to meeting them.
Requests for the school garden
Ewa Hay and the school gardeners would kindly request your help with the following items: any spare compost, bamboo canes of any size/length, undamaged egg cartons and packaging wool.
There will be clear marked boxes outside the main reception of the school to drop off any of these things. Many thanks in advance for your support.
Communication
A reminder, I am more than happy to speak to parents at drop off and pick up, or you can contact me directly at:
