  • Lost and found!

    Published 19/11/21

This week in English we have continued to look at the story of Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers. We are now very good at re-telling the story using actions. This really helped Year 2 to create a story map using words and pictures to recount the tale. Year 2 also created a 'Lost' poster for the Penguin from the story. This included a description of what he looks like, his personality and what he likes to do for fun. We were very impressed with the students detailed descriptions and extravagant offers of rewards. We have also enjoyed looking at 'Why light is so important to Christians' in RE and using collage in art.

  • Welsh dancing and circus acts!

    Published 12/11/21

This week in English, we looked at the story of 'Up and Down' by Oliver Jeffers in which the penguin character goes to join a circus! We then thought about what acts we would have at our circus and came up with ideas like a human cannonball and a dancing unicorn! We then described our circus persuasively using description and show not tell like 'eyes pop' and 'heart sing'. In history, we decorated boxes to create houses from the Great Fire of London and in PE we started learning small steps to complete some traditional Welsh dancing. In maths, we practised using our number facts and this will help us next week with missing number problems. We also learnt about the significance of poppies on Remembrance Day.
