Puppets pending...

Year 2 have had a fantastic week this week.

In DT, we are practising our sewing skills in preparation for making our own puppets. The children showed great resilience and patience when practising this skill.

In RE, we have been learning about different places of worship, with a focus on the synagogue. The children have explored why the Torah is so important to Jewish people and why/how it is treated with such respect.

In Maths, we have been learning about fractions, including halves, quarters and thirds. The children have been using practical resources as well as written methods to deepen their understanding.

In English, we have completed our writing unit about the zoo. The children then moved on to persuasive writing, where they wrote thoughtful pieces about why animals should not be kept in zoos. We are now asking questions about The Gorilla by Anthony Browne as our next English focus.

In PE, we have been focusing on teamwork and problem-solving skills. The children have taken part in activities that encourage communication, cooperation and resilience. They had to cross from one side of the 'river' to the other with limited equipment.

In History, we have really enjoyed sharing homework about our parents’ experiences at school. The children have used this to compare schooling in the past with school life today.

In Computing, we have been exploring online software to create music. The children enjoyed experimenting with different sounds and rhythms.

Wishing you all a great weekend, Year 2 team.
