A Spoonful of Learning: Shapes, Secrets and London Landmarks

What a wonderful few weeks we have had in year 2!

This week in English, we have continued to explore our Mary Poppins learning in more depth. The children have been developing their understanding of the past progressive tense and used it to write their own imaginative sentences. We also had lots of fun creating our own chalk drawings inspired by Mary Poppins before jumping into our pictures and going on magical adventures. The children showed great creativity and enthusiasm throughout the week.

In Maths, we have been rounding off our learning about shapes and exploring £D shapes. The children have been identifying, naming and discussing the properties of different 3D shapes, such as faces, edges, and vertices.

In Computing, we have been learning about instructions and algorithms. The children used Bee-Bots to practise giving clear, step-by-step instructions and enjoyed programming them to move around the classroom.

In Geography, we have been learning about famous London landmarks and sorting them into human and physical features.

In PSHE, we have been discussing surprises and secrets. The children talked about what makes a surprise fun and happy and the difference between a safe secret and a secret that should be shared with a trusting adult.

We are very proud of how hard the children have worked this week and the enthusiasm they have brought to their learning. Thank you for your continued support and engagement. We wish you a wonderful weekend!
